Faith Working Out Through Love

Galatians 6:10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

My husband and I, together with a team of about 25, recently had a chance to express our faith through love in a place we cherish. Rancho Santa Marta, about seventy miles south of Ensenada, Mexico, is a haven for a variety of children… children from challenging home environments, orphans, and some with learning disabilities. With 190 children in the school’s grades one through eight, and forty-five children in the ranch’s four residences, there are a myriad of needs.

Volunteers from a number of churches spend time at the ranch, building and repairing buildings and property, and working with children.

One of my greatest joys has been watching the children grow over the years we have served at RSM. We’ve watched teachers and a therapist focus on specific needs, whether those be learning to speak, using calming influences to free children up to learn more effectively, and teaching these wonderful children discipline, respect, and kindness to one another. Several are talented artists. One girl, unable to speak, can now communicate with friends because her whole class learned sign language. What a joy to have a small part of loving these children and staff in Jesus’ name, and to see the ways God is building into their lives through the loving ministry at Santa Marta.

“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love” (Galatians 5:6b).

What are some ways you’ve been able to express your faith through love? I’d love to hear about them.

You spread love wherever you go, Carol! 🙂 I enjoyed this post; it’s neat to hear how beautiful your trip was.

So nice to hear about the good work you’ve done on your mission trips to Mexico. I did some similar work in Baja years ago through our church while living in San Diego. Here in Santa Cruz county I will be sharing my faith through love by participating in a prison ministry.

Karen, thank you. I’m glad you will participate in a prison ministry. You have so much to share and I know God will use you there, where there is a great need.
